  • Have Lived at the same complex for the past 3 years. The complex has new owners for the past several months. Old management used to give me (at my request) a copy of my check with the stamp and /or signature of received. Deadline to pay the rent is the 3rd of each month. Now the new management refuses to hand me a receipt before the 4th of the month. My question is, where is the proof that I handed the check to them in time to avoid late fees? There lot of rumors among neighbors that they are trying to scare people out to renovate more units and raise the rent. What are my rights? Thank you.

  • I own my house and rent a lot in a "over 55" community. The driveway is a poor shape and I have asked management for several years for repair. Half of the driveways in the community have been repaired, and I have been told that the rest will be done shortly. That was three months ago! There are chips and holes in the driveway making a safety issue. How can I get them to uphold their responsibility? I do not want to move and just want them to provide the maintenance they are obligated to.

  • My landlord told me they intend to sell the property I am renting because they cannot afford necessary repairs. I still have several months on my lease. All they have said is "lease agreements are broken all the time." Can they terminate my lease this early on? What are my rights in this case?
  • For 3/6 years, my mom hasn't had a lease agreement, for the house she rents, she's just month to month. Last month (April) she texted the landlord asking to sign a new lease. Landlord said no and to move by the end of the month. One day my mom was asleep and someone came to the house trying to give me service papers for her. I didn't accept them on her behalf, and though she requested redelivery, it never came. Now we've been given writ of restitution, 8 hours to vacate, and 2 weeks to return for our belongings. Did we legally get proper notice to vacate, or can we fight for more time to move?
