QUESTIONS

  • I moved into an apartment and signed a one year lease, which is up in October. I signed up for Direct TV and they installed a satellite dish. Other tenants have dishes, as well. The complex changed property mgmt companies in June and they told us we had to discontinue our service and remove the dishes, as they were painting the outside of the buildings. They also told us we could not reinstall the dishes. I haven't had TV service since July 1. Can I legally break my lease without cost to me?
  • My ex-husband was given custody of our son after having him removed by child protective services (CPS)2 yrs prior after his arrest for child abuse. Our son had lived with me for over 2 yrs in a clean & sober happy home and was afraid of his dad, talked of abuse from his dad, etc. Through a series of events his dad has custody of him again after the judge misconstrued the situation and didn't look into the history. He's abusive and won't let me see our son. My ex was abusive to me & my kids. Now I don't know what to do. The judge doesn't believe me. Can I get a new judge? What can I do? Help!
  • We had a water leak in our backyard. We notified the landlord in writing three times , but it took one month for them to fix it. Our water bill has now doubled. We wrote to them that we would like them to pay the half exceeding our normal amount--they have not responded. What are our rights?

  • Was told by my interviewer that I must present all of my family's birth certificates so that DES may "stamp" them. She said this was a law as of April 2006, however, the first time I applied, they did not say this, nor did they "stamp" our birth certificates. I'd like to know where I can find this law, and will I be turned down for food stamps and AHCCCS if I don't let DES stamp our birth certificates?
  • I've lived at an extended stay motel for about 2 years. Last September my cooler went out and my landlord has been saying since then that he will get it fixed by the time hot weather is back. It's now almost 100 degrees here and it still isn't fixed. My landlord acts like he has no responsibility because it's a motel but I'm wondering what I can legally do to remedy this.
