Child Custody
questions & answers
Question: Court ordered 50/50 custody - no relatives for either parent residing in State - in case of emergency e.g. motor vehicle accident involving child and parent how is other parent located? email:[email protected]
Answer: Many people handle this with ICE (in case of emergency) in the contacts list on their phone. You would then list the address and phone number of the other parent. When a serious accident occurs, the police look for ICE contacts on the victim's phone. The court issuing the custody order should also have parental contact information, but that assumes the emergency response people know the couple are divorced and that a custody order exists. It is always wise to have emergency contact information with you any time you leave your home. The burden is on you to make sure first responders have the information needed.
