Child Support
questions & answers
Question: Hello, Is there a basic description of what child support is supposed to cover in the state of AZ? My ex is insisting that I pay her more than the child support and alimony that she receives, which is $5,500 per month. She wants me to pay for the kid's cell phones, cars, etc. I have explained to her that I do not agree to these things and these are not part of child support. Any feedback would be useful.
Answer:
On the Arizona Supreme Court's website, you can find information on child support. Included on the Supreme Court's website is a link for the Arizona Child Support Guidelines. In addition, there are many laws that discuss child support in Title 25 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.). Chapter 5 under Title 25 deals with Family Support Duties. Also, A.R.S. 25-320 discusses child support as well.
To find out how these laws and others may apply to your specific situation, you may want to consult with an attorney.
