Question: I was charged with an Assault 3 months ago. Will it ever be taken off of my record?

Answer:

The following is provided for general information only. To find out how the law applies to a specific situation, contact an attorney directly

If you are charged with a crime, that does not equate to a conviction unless you enter a guilty plea or are convicted at trial. If you have been charged with a crime there is a record of the charge with the courts which will likely always exist. The court records are publicly available and anyone who does a search will likely be able to find the records. Over time the records may be purged, but it will be based upon that particular court's schedule.
