Question: I live out of the US but I have a misdemeanor warrant for my arrest in Yuma County. I want to quash the warrant so that I can freely pass into the country and appear before the court to address the charges on my own account. Is there a way to go about this by doing it myself?

Answer: The Clerk at the Yuma court which issued the warrant will be able to instruct you on how to file a motion to quash a warrant. Here is a list of the Yuma Courts. The issuing Court will also be able to tell you the extradition rules that apply to your warrant. If the warrant doesn’t call for interstate extradition you will be able to enter the U.S. without being taken into custody. Further, some warrants only call for extradition, only if you are in an adjacent county to the county the warrant was issued in. In that case, you can enter Arizona without being arrested as long as you are not in Yuma County or an adjacent county.
