questions & answers
Question: I have a neighbor that is taking my picture everyday because I turn around in front of their house to go down my street because it dead-ends so there's only one way out they have threatened me called me names and state their willing to lie about things and spend thousands of dollars to prove a point. They do not want me to turn around in front of their house but it is a city street. They have threatened me with a protection order stating that I am a threat to them. Can I file a protection order against them for the verbal abuse harassment and invasion of privacy when they take my picture daily
Answer: An Injunction Against Harassment is an order issued by a judge to stop harassment when the victim of harassment and the perpetrator of the harassment do not have a romantic or familial relationship. An Injunction Against Harassment is issued when the “harassment” includes a series of acts over any period of time that is directed at a specific person that would cause the person to be seriously alarmed, annoyed, or harassed and the conduct in fact seriously alarms, annoys, or harasses the person and serves no legitimate purpose. An Injunction Against Harassment may be requested online through the AZPOINT system or on paper forms at the Court. Whether the request is completed online or at the Court, the person seeking an Injunction Against Harassment will need to have: - The name of the person you are filing against (the defendant) - The person’s date of birth (or reasonable estimate) - A statement detailing all acts and approximate dates of harassment the person has committed against you in the past year - An address and telephone number where the court can contact you if the person requests a hearing - An address where the person can be legally served with the court order (if not known, the city where the person resides must be provided) For more information about requesting an Injunction Against Harassment, visit: https://www.azcourthelp.org/faq/domestic-violence-and-harassment/221-how-harassment-injuction.
