Question: i am in a 12 month lease, with 5 months left on said lease. today my landlord came to my door with a 30 day notice of rent increase, its been increased 45 dollars. i checked my lease there is nothing in it saying they can raise rent at any time during the lease agreement, my question is, can they do that? do i have to pay the increase or just what my lease says my rent is.?

Answer: The lease is contract between you and the landlord. Its terms cannot be changed during without the consent of both parties. The landlord cannot unilateraly increase the rent during the lease period.
