General Housing Information
questions & answers
Question: The tenants next door to me Have moved seven additional people into the house for a total number of six adults and six children living in a three bedroom home. Are three occupancy limitations?
Answer: As a general rule, there is no limit to how many people may live in a dwelling or share a room, so long as the living conditions are safe. For example, each person must be able to sleep in a space from which they can easily escape in the case of an emergency such as a fire. However, most rental agreements between a landlord and a tenant do specify how many people are permitted to live in the dwelling, but each rental agreement is different.
