Food Stamps, Cash Assistance
questions & answers
Question: I am diabetic, taking medication, and receiving food stamps but I need to eat three times per day. The amount stamps I receive is not enough for three meals a day and toward the end of the month I have to limit to one meal per day. Is an increase possible?
Answer: Our website, AZLawHelp.org has several articles and information under Topics -Public Benefits, Food Stamps, Cash Assistance. There is quite a bit of information there regarding how to go about getting food stamps. If you are between the ages of 16-60, you may have to participate in the Food Stamp Employment and Training program. There is also an article that addresses seniors and providing meal services at senior centers if you are over the age of 60. For further information, you may want to contact DES - (800) 221-5689, or their website https://www.azdes.gov/faa/food.asp.
