Question: My father is a retired county worker for Arizona. He is now 88 years old in a nursing home. His income for ss and retirement is about 1800 a month. this does not cover his nursing home or his home expences. We have used our saving up and now I will be hitting charge cards this month to help him out. Is ther any help available for us.

You may want to visit the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) website for information on this benefit. ALTCS is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  1. Over 65
  2. Income limit of $1,911
  3. Resource limit of $2,000 per month for a single individual. The limit is different depending on whether the person to be covered is single or married.
