QUESTIONS

  • So quick question is there a law on how much space is allowed on the backside of your trailer in a trailer park? I have a boat that I have had stored on the backside of my trailer for six months now and the space behind us was empty but now an R.V. is moving in and my landlord is saying I am only allowed three feet on the backside of my trailer but that seems really small to me like not even big enough in case of emergency.
  • my fiance lives with his mother in there home they have been renting for a little over 8 years now. he was currently incarcerated, given 3 months in jail. while in custody his mother unexpectedly passed away in the home.I am the only one given by the two sons next of kin a power of attorney to have access to the home. the property manager has gone in and let the aunt take things then changed the locks so i had no access to the home.I spoke to him about paying rent in which he agreed to take payments for a months rent he has taken partial payment and now will not allow me access inside.help me!
  • Can I withhold my rent from my landlord if there is mold in my trailer? I noticed there was mold growing around my sons cooler in his room (a/c unit) , I notified the landlord and told him about it and he promised he would send someone on that money (it’s been 3 weeks now). My son is 9 and has to sleep in the living room because of this problem , I also recently had a baby(she’s 6 months) and would hate for her to get sick from this. What legal action can I take? Also before we moved in we were promised that they would switch out the old bathtub for a new one and new flooring but nothing.
  • My landlord turned off the heat to the entire apt complex a week ago, and stated that it can't be turned back on. It is reasonable to presume that without heat, the temperature inside the residing units will be comparable to outside. I tried to submit, in writing, a letter requesting that by purchasing an adequate heater to heat my unit during this time, I may apply the amount spent on the heater, with proof of receipt, to be deducted from my rent for the month of March, 2015. I cited 33-1324 and 33-1364 in the letter. The landlord denied the request. How enforceable is my principle?
  • My ex-husband was given custody of our son after having him removed by child protective services (CPS)2 yrs prior after his arrest for child abuse. Our son had lived with me for over 2 yrs in a clean & sober happy home and was afraid of his dad, talked of abuse from his dad, etc. Through a series of events his dad has custody of him again after the judge misconstrued the situation and didn't look into the history. He's abusive and won't let me see our son. My ex was abusive to me & my kids. Now I don't know what to do. The judge doesn't believe me. Can I get a new judge? What can I do? Help!
  • My ex's visitation is every other holiday break and half of the summer. He disappears for months at a time, last time being 4 months and he was in jail; he is also far behind on his support. He now wants to have them for the summer in TX. I have qualms about it because the last time he took them out of state, he didn't bring them home, I had to figure out a way to go get them. Additionally, the last time he had them here for their break, he had me pick them up after 6 days because he couldn't handle it. Can I legally deny him visitation out of state?
  • What are my rights when a mobile home park is selling and supposedly turning park into apts. I cannot afford to move the mobile home, it is too old
  • Just received a bill from a hospital for services rendered in 2011. I never received a bill from them and assumed that everything had been taken care of by my health insurance. How can they send me a bill more than two years later?
  • How do I get the landlord to refund the balance of rent money paid to satisfy the remainder of the term of my lease, that the landlord then entered into another lease with new tenants? The security deposit was refunded in full but they tried to be deceptive about entering into a new lease during the remainder of my lease. And now try to say I am required to pay the utilities for the property for the 2 months after I vacated and turned over possession of the keys
  • What is considered "reasonable heating and cooling"? ie. if the heater breaks in the winter, what temperature is considered a point that a unit must be repaired immediately? Also, in the summer, if the AC unit malfunctions, at what temp. is it considered an emergency to fix the unit?
