QUESTIONS

  • If the property management company changes can I cancel my lease?
  • We notified landlord we are terminating our lease that is effective through September 08. We actually vacated the house June 11. We asked landlord to find another tenant that could move in before out lease is up so we can get out of our lease early. Landlord said they were looking for new tenant but then said they wanted their friends to move in Jan. 09. They are playing with our money now by not looking for a new tenant. Can they do that?
  • my apartment complex is refusing to contact anyone other than their own complex repair people to fix our AC. we have been without working AC for OVER a week.. •1) can we withhold rent until this issue is resolved? •2) if so, who do we give our rent payments to in the mean time? •3) how long do they have to get the issue resolved after the 5 days from giving them written notice of the issue? thank you!
  • Does the Arizona Revenue Service have something similar to the IRS' Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007? If you have a foreclosure and subsequent debt forgiven, does Arizona add it to your income or do they have a provision to exclude it (similar to the IRS' Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007)?
  • For 3/6 years, my mom hasn't had a lease agreement, for the house she rents, she's just month to month. Last month (April) she texted the landlord asking to sign a new lease. Landlord said no and to move by the end of the month. One day my mom was asleep and someone came to the house trying to give me service papers for her. I didn't accept them on her behalf, and though she requested redelivery, it never came. Now we've been given writ of restitution, 8 hours to vacate, and 2 weeks to return for our belongings. Did we legally get proper notice to vacate, or can we fight for more time to move?
  • My daughter lives in Northern AZ and had a child and lived with the father for 7 years. The relationship ended with the father filing custody papers with both parents having equal time with the child. He never has paid child support with my daughter never asking for it. He has been in several relationships with women married and divorced along with moving 10 times within 1 1/2 years. Long story short, my daughter has provided her with a stable home. He has hired a lawyer, she can't afford one. She has used legal aide but they won't go to the hearing. I'm worried she will loose wo/ a lawyer.
  • My brother is a broker and the trustee of my mothers estate. He has misuse his powers of a broker and the trustee of the estate.
  • My husband obtained a new job out of town. We asked the property owner if we can break lease and forfeit all deposits. She says they don’t allow breach and we are responsible for the duration of the lease. We need to move but can’t afford to rent two houses. What can we do?
  • whats the best way to expunge or seal records if all u have is misdaminors?
  • Moved into renovated home was to be done by 6/18 (day moved in). Upon arrival; 2 baseball size holes in 2 windows & piles of trash under carport. Due to incorrect measurements windows would be another week. Week1 dryer vent had to be re-cut, electrician rewired house due to fire hazard. Week2 plumbing unable to do laundry 2weeks now, family has to share 1 bathroom, windows not replaced. Week3 windows replaced 7/1–7/6, plumbing on hold to find better price (laundry?), & still sharing bathroom. Was given 1 months free rent but asking us to pay full electricity bill. What are her obligations?
