QUESTIONS

  • In 2008 I was convicted of a undesignated class 6 in AZ that was supposed to be reduced to a misdemeanor after I completed probation which I did (got early release) and paid all my fines. It shows up as a felony on background checks . Can I get this expunged/set aside? or even changed to a misdemeanor like it was supposed to be ?
  • We had flooding from recent storm. Walls got wet, carpet got wet, and light fixture not working. Landlord said let dry out and things will be fine. No repairs. Only cut open wall to worst leak and put a dryer in there. No one has come back. That 9/8/14. Today is 9/10/14. Should we give 5 or 10 day notice to fix? It now smells moldy in here, and I have to cook dinner in semi dark. Already frustrated because we have roaches! I have allergies and don't want to be exposed to them or to mold.
  • My landlord has turned off my access to my porch light in order to save money. My entrance is in the back of the house where it s extremely dark. Entrance into the area is through a gate where the step has eroded away, making for a dangerous entrance, even in the light. Is my landlord required to provide a safe entryway, including lighting?
  • I am the guardian of my 2 grandchildren (their mother is my oldest daughter) she had been in a domestic violence situation with the kids dad (he is in prison until July 2016) she lives with friends, no job, possible drugs. He does drugs and has a new girlfriend pregnant. I do not want either of them to obtain children EVER. What can I do to protect the kids and myself since Arizona tends to want to reunite children and parents. This is not a good idea with either of the biological parents. I love them to much to have them suffer. Guardian since 2010, they are age 9 and 6. suggestions?
  • My parents are on social security income only and we are evaluating whether to put my Dad in a nursing home. He would most likely be eligible for ALTCS. My parents own their home and it is the only asset left to support my mother. I heard that a nursing home can take half the house value if the house is sold within 3 years of my father entering a facility. Can the home be put into a trust for my mother or sold to a family member before my father enters a nursing home to avoid this?
  • I rent with three other people one is planning on moving out by law is she required to give me a certain amount of notice before she moves?We agreed on end of month but she decided to move out tonight the end of the 18th with only giving me 4 hours notice.
  • I recently went to court and got my case kicked out for the reason i sent the 5 day notice via certified mail and didn't wait 10 days to file a forcible detainer?... i waited 7 days?. the judge said it is 5 days for serving it by hand but 10 if it is done certified mail? is this right? thanks
  • Where can I get help for my 39 year disabled daughter who has been on SSI since 2001 and last year was denied SSI, we are receiving part benefits as she is in appeal but need a lawyer to assist us on her case before we go to court in front of a judge and also help her to get her benefits back permanently. Any lawyers I have contact want a deposit and hourly wages which of course anyone on SSI couldn't possibly pay. Where can I go to get her proper representation without a huge bill??   • I’m 6 months pregnant me and the father are not married and don’t even talk. We were not even together when I got pregnant. He’s not there and he’s not fit to be a father how can I get sole custody when my baby is born? Can I leave his name out of the birth certificate or will he still be able to have rights once my baby is born? He doesn’t know my due date and won’t be there for when I give birth so he will not be signing the birth certificate. Is there any way I can assure he can’t come and try to take my baby? How can I file for sole custody? Would he need to sign over his rights?
