I am currently renting a home in Tucson that has a Swamp Cooler. The swamp cooler has not been keeping the house cool. The temperature reaches between 88-91 degrees inside even with many fans throughout house. The landlord has failed to offer any way of cooling down the house. If we want an AC unit in the windows we must pay for it. He has neglected to fix things because we pay "cheap rent for the neighborhood we're in." Is the landlord legally responsible for providing livable conditions such as accurate cooling?

I was adopted at the age of 13 from Russia. My adopted American parents were abusive. At the age of 18 I left home. I have been homeless living with friends as I finished my high school diploma. I have not been able to pay anyone for living at their home. I have started community college full time, two of my classes are not college accredited as I was educationally deprive and have to catch up to take Eng. 101 and college math. I spend more time studying than the average student as English is my second language. I work 8 hours a week at a clothing store. I just started caring for a 90 year old lady, more than 20 hours per week, in exchange for a place to study & sleep. DES says I need to work 20 hours a week to get food stamps. Would my caring of the 90 year old count as working even though I do not get paid?

My ex is pregnant and we have tried but cannot get along I have asked her to leave she will not. She does not work nor has she the entire time we have been together. We do not own any property or rent a apartment or home together. I have a travel trailler I just purchased and found a cheap yard to store it and live in temporarily only two weeks ago. I have 3 kids by the same man and his name is on their birth certificate and we never married. 7 years ago he was convicted of a sexual charge against my daughter and other charges and is in prison until my youngest is 18 years old. Before he sexual violated my daughter I had left him and was in a relationship with the man I’m married to today. My husband has raised my kids as his own for 7 years. Also the biological father was diagnosed as incompetent while he is incarcerated. Can my husband adopt my kids without his consent? So if I die he can raise my kids and not biological dads parents?

Have Lived at the same complex for the past 3 years. The complex has new owners for the past several months. Old management used to give me (at my request) a copy of my check with the stamp and /or signature of received. Deadline to pay the rent is the 3rd of each month. Now the new management refuses to hand me a receipt before the 4th of the month. My question is, where is the proof that I handed the check to them in time to avoid late fees? There lot of rumors among neighbors that they are trying to scare people out to renovate more units and raise the rent. What are my rights? Thank you.
