Question: Can a 17 year old change their last name without parental consent?
Answer: No, a minor cannot petition for a legal name change without parental consent. In Arizona, the parent or guardian of a minor can file for a name change on behalf of the minor but a minor cannot file for themselves. If you don’t have parental consent it is unlikely that a petition will be filed for you by your parent.
