Question: My ex has been providing child support to are 9yr child since we separated. He recently passed away is she intitled to his social security for child support and how do I take steps to find out how to get aid for. her

Answer: You will need to visit your local Social Security Office.  Bring all relevant paperwork with you, including your child's birth certificate,  a copy of your divorce decree, your ex-husband's death certificate.  You may want to call Social Security in advance to find out if there is additional information required. The Social Security Office will have all the forms you need and can guide you through the application process.  You can also visit the agency website:  www.ssa.gov.
