Child Abuse & Neglect
questions & answers
Question: My ex and I just settled for joint cussady. He has a history of abuse. My son just told me tonight that his dad hit him and not to kiss his forhead because it still hurts. What should I do?
Answer: If you believe your child is being abused by someone, report the abuse to the Department of Child Safety (1-800-SOS-CHILD). If there is already a court order regarding legal decision making and parenting time, then you have to modify that order by filing a Petition to Modify. The forms are available at https://www.azcourts.gov/selfservicecenter Depending on what county you live in you may also seek the services of the Conciliation/Mediation division of the court. Mediation allows you to come to an agreement with the father which will then be formalized into a court order.
