Grandparents' Rights
questions & answers
Question: my grandson lives in Az and I live in Texas. I want to bring him to Texas for two weeks. What state do I need to file in?
Answer: Under the Uniform Child Custody and Jurisdiction Act and A.R.S. Section 25-402, the state and county where the child resides is the state with jurisdiction to decide any visitation issues. You can petition the court to give you grandparent's visitation rights pursuant to A.R.S. Section 25-409; however, keep in mind that with the current COVID-19 situation, the judge may be reluctant to allow the child to travel out of state.
