Protection Orders
questions & answers
Question: How long do i have to get an order of protection served once it has been filed?
Answer: Orders of protection can, and are recommended by the court that they be served as soon as the clerk of court receives and files your (the petitioner) paperwork. Once the respondent (other party) is served, you will receive an affidavit of service allowing the case to move forward and a court date will be set. There is a time period of 20 days from the day you receive notice that the respondent was served, until the court date. Further information and court forms can be found here http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/Self-ServiceCenter/forms/Index.asp.
