Question: I was hired by Norton Lilly Inc. in June of 2015.I was let go in Aug of 2015.the company refused unemployment and after I present information to the unemployment office only then I was told by the unemployment office that "my employer could not substantiate my discharge" and that is when I began collecting. Answer: Federal and Arizona state employment discrimination laws prohibit an employer from terminating an employee because of an employee's age if the employee is age 40 or over. If an employee believes an employer has discriminated against the employee because of age 40 or over, the employee has 300 days from the date of the alleged discriminatory act to file a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
