Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: My apartment complex works with a central air conditioning system for every apartment. Can a landlord turn off the a/c to every unit in October when it is still hot outside because they will be turning on the heat in 2 weeks?
Answer: A landlord must supply "...reasonable air-conditioning or cooling where such units are installed and offered, when required by seasonal weather conditions" A.R.S. 33-1324 A (6). Under this statute, if weather conditions require, they must supply adequate air-conditioning.
