Question: I have lived woth my boyfriend and his mother in this apartment since they moved in i actually found the house for them. The landlord never put me on the lease for the house but i am on the housing lease it has been a year and now all of a sudden rhe landlord is charging me 50$ a month to stay here. Can he do that if he hasnt charged me from the very begining? He knew i would be livin here with them i do not know what to do.

Answer: The landlord cannot change the amount of the payable rent without notice to the tenant, however dependent on what your lease your landlord may have reserved the right to attach a change to anyone who is not noted on the leasing agreement. Reread the lease to help fully understand what your rights are, you may also want to consider consulting with an attorney.
