Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: The water inadvertently did not get disconnected on the day my lease ended so my landlord waited six days to put into their name and emptied/filled the swimming pool to the tune of $300. They will not respond to my emails. Do I have any recourse?
Answer: It is always recommended that tenants make requests and demands of their landlords in writing, and include a copy (not the original) of any supporting documentation. It is important for the tenant to establish a record in case the landlord fails to respond and the tenant is left with no choice but to take the landlord to court.
