Question: My landlord is requesting pictures of my minor children submitted with a new lease agreement. I would like to protect the anonymity of my children. Would the landlord be able to decline my lease without submitting pictures of my children?

Answer: There is no legal requirement for you to provide photos of your minor children in the context of a lease. I think you have a right to protect their anonymity. That being said, a landlord may refuse to lease to someone for any reason, just not a bad reason (discrimination, etc.). One bad reason is having children. You could potentially argue that they are discriminating against you because you have children and make a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General. I think your best bet is to start by telling them your concerns and asking that they consider allowing you to lease without the photos and see what they say. If they refuse, I recommend you consult with an attorney.
