Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: I paid a deposit & 1st months rent weeks ago. The Manager hasn't cashed my check. He will not give me the contact info of the landlord and won't give me a lease. What do I do?
Answer: The Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act expressly requires that the tenant be provided with a completed and signed copy of the rental agreement within a reasonable time after a written rental agreement has been executed as well as the name and address of both the person authorized to manage the premises and an owner of the premises or a person authorized to act for and on behalf of the owner for the purpose of service of process and for the purpose of receiving and receipting for notices and demands (A.R.S. 33-1322). A tenant in your situation should document everything carefully. You may want to contact a lawyer.
