When a vehicle is repossessed for your nonpayment of the vehicle loan (a breach of the loan contract), you must contact the lender to request reinstating your contract payment arrangements before the vehicle can potentially be returned.  Whether the lender will consider the “hardship” of your co-resident’s health problems is the lender’s decision, not a legal issue.
