VOTING IN PERSON

Go to your polling location. Polling locations can be found on your Voter ID, the County Recorder website for your county or on VoterView, a designated section of the Arizona Secretary of States’ website.

Polling locations are subject to change. Check your polling location before Election Day!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: ID at the polls is required for Arizona elections

Each person must provide proper identification at the polling place before receiving a ballot. This identification must provide the voter's name and address. To verify whether a voter has proper identification, review the requirements on the Secretary of State's website concerning Proof of Identification. If the identification contains outdated information then certain other types of identification may be supplement to adequately identify the voter. 

The Secretary of State's site also has useful information for voters with disabilities and overseas military voters.

 

EARLY VOTING

You may also register for early voting. You can do this by calling the County Recorder’s office or by making a written request. When you register to vote, the form or the website will ask you if you would like to be added to the “Early Voting List” so you will not have to submit a separate request.  Your early ballot must be received by the County Recorder or any polling location before the end of Election Day. This means the ballot must be placed in the mail before Election Day. If you did not mail your ballot, you can still vote by hand-delivering the ballot to any polling location before the close of day.

EARLY BALLOTS NOTICE: Early ballots must be received by election day! It is not sufficient that your early ballot be post marked by the day of the election.  If you forgot or have not mailed your ballot, you may drop it off at any polling location. Mailing the ballot on Election Day may cause your ballot to not be counted.

REGISTERING TO VOTE
To register to vote in Arizona you must:

  • Be a United States citizen.

  • Be 18 years of age or more on or before the day of the next regular General Election, November 8, 2016. For example: If you are currently 17 but will turn 18 before the General Election (Nov 8, 2016) then you meet the age requirement and can register now if you meet the other requirements.

  • Be a resident of Arizona and the county listed on your registration for at least 29 days before the election, October 10, 2016 for the General Election on November 8, 2016.  If you move within the State during the 29 days before the election, your polling place would be the same district as your previous residence.

REMEMBER – If you will be 18 by Election Day, November 8 this year, you can register to vote now! If you won’t be 18 before Election Day, you can still participate in the voting process through our KidsVotingAZ.org website.

 You are restricted from voting if:

  • You have been convicted of a felony and have not had your rights restored – even if you were convicted as a minor.

  • You have been adjudicated incompetent.  

Proof of citizenship:

In Arizona, proof of citizenship must be submitted with all new voter registration forms. This proof can include: an AZ Driver’s License (or non-operating Identification Card), an out-of-state driver’s license (or non-operating Identification Card), a birth certificate, the relevant pages of a US Passport, a US Naturalization Certificate, a Bureau of Indian Affairs Card Number, a Tribal Treaty Card Number, or a Tribal Enrollment Number.

How to register to vote:

You can register to vote through the online registration process here. In order to use this link you must have an Arizona Driver License and/or an Arizona non-operating Identification Card issued by the Motor Vehicle Division on or after October 1, 1996. If you do not have an AZDL or AZID then you can apply using the printable form here and mail it to the applicable county recorder. You can also fill out and return a copy of the Voter Registration Form at your local County Recorder’s office. Click here to find your local County Recorder’s office.

If you register by mail, please send a photocopy of your proof of citizenship and not your original copy. Your County Recorder’s office will not return the documents to you.

  • My daughter is incarcerated at the Mohave county jail and has been for three or so months. Her attorney filed a rule 11 in her case. What is that? And they are trying to find her incompentate to stand trail. She has a mental disorder and they have her on lock down 24 hours a day. I cant have visits with her at all. And they told me to call first and when I do they say yes she can have a visit but when I get there they (visiting receptionist) tells me sorry the pod or she is on lockdown. what can I do about this?
  • So one of my good friends is a felon for drug charges. He is currently on probation. My issue is I give him rides to help him get on his feet. I have also allowed him to stay at my house when things get bad with his family. Does him being in my car or house allow the police to search it without probable cause? I am sometimes in Scottsdale or phoenix too. Do the laws change there? I believe I should be entitled to basic constitutional rights, but does being with a felon remove my rights?

  • I completed probation I never gave up my right to privacy and my old probation officers, basically violated my civil liberties.
