QUESTIONS

  • My company has 19 or 20 employees - am I eligible for FMLA? I'm currently on a company group health plan - am I eligible for COBRA coverage? If not to either question, do I have any options?
  • My lease began 5/19/17 the landlord promised the house would be ready to occupy. I only moved some furniture there 5/20/17 moved more furniture used toilet discovered nothing toilet tanks have black mold growing . Requested remediation of mold. Only removal of mold occurred no cleaning of tanks to remove spores or tencales upon inspection if tanks evening of 5/21/17 new mold was reappearing tank had strong odor of mold when openened. Is landlord required to remove this health hazard? Am I bound by law to the lease? Do I have rights to reimbursement of moving expense?

  • Our landlord refuses to fix our swamp cooler and the resulting problems. The swamp cooler leaks water, which has damaged the roof so that it leaks in our bedroom & closet for the last 3 years. This year it blew a fuse, so the landlord is using OUR extention cord for power. Now, whenever the cooler is turned on, the faucets and metal parts of our toilet/sink are electrified. We would like to file the 10 day repair notice but can't afford to move out. Can we file for damages while still living in the apt? Are we allowed to stay until the case is over?
  • In my lease it states I have to provide 30 days written notice (email will comply). My landlord told me I have to give notice for the full rent cycle and is trying to tell me we are obligated to pay another full moths rent. Do I have to give 30 days notice, or a full rent cycle notice? My intention is to move after the 1st of the next month but prior to month ending. Can I do so and provide a pro-rated amount of rent to my landlord or do I have to be out by the 1st?

I have also got in trouble for leaving the building if i am told i cant start yet. They want me to sit there and wait unpaid for sometimes up to 3 hours. I have brought this up to my manager but i feel they are taking advantage of my age because i am only 19
  • My Ex and I share 2 children in a 50/50 custody parenting plan. My husband and I are relocating to GA taking over his family business. and have sent our intent to relocate over to him. We received an objection back as expected. What are the next steps on our part after receiving the objection? Do courts take into consideration the children's preference of whom they would like to live with? (middle school aged) We received a consultation from a lawyer who blatantly told us that unless he was a drug addict or abuser, we would not be granted permission to move with them. Please help.
