Question: If the father is not listed on the birth certificate can you stillget chils support
Answer: The father is not listed on the birth certificate, so the next question is whether the father is willing to admit paternity. If he acknowledges that he is the father, under Arizona law (A.R.S. 25-814), the two of you can write up a statement stating that he is the father of your child. The statement must be witnessed and notarized and must contain both the mother's and the father's signatures. You can then use the statement as a basis to file for child support. If he does not admit that he is the father, you will need to file a paternity action in court and serve him with papers. You can obtain a self help packet from the Maricopa County Superior Court's website or at the Clerk of the Court's office. The packet will instruct you on what you need to do to establish that he is the father.
