Child Support
questions & answers
Question: If I buy everything for my daughter shoes clothing, uniforms for school hygiene, her eye glasses do I still have to pay child support
Answer: Unless there is specific language in the child support order that allows you to substitute purchases for child support, you are still required to pay support. It would be unusual to have language allowing such a substitution. Your court order should specify which parent pays for medical insurance and medical bills. Support is generally considered separate from things you buy for your child because it includes the cost of housing, food, heat and air conditioning, etc. Many parents tend to forget that their support helps pay for the child having a roof over her head and food on the table, but that is all part of the equation.
