Divorce & Annulment
questions & answers
Question: My husband has been gone for eight years. I have no idea where he is. Do I still have to find him to serve a divorce? We have minor children together. The child support he has paid has been speratic.
Answer: According to the Maricopa County Superior Court’s website, after filing court papers a person must serve the papers on the other party. Service is required because it is the way that you give legal notice to the other party that you have filed court papers. This link here provides access to the court’s Self Service page on their website and gives information on serving the other party. This information can be helpful when the other party lives outside of Arizona, is difficult to find, or not able to be found at all. Additionally, for more of a broad overview about divorce, the following two articles give information regarding everything you want to know about getting a divorce in Arizona.
