Adoption

questions & answers

Question: i have three children already and I am pregnant with a fourth that is going up for adoption. my question is if the newborn has marijuana in his system at birth what will happen to my other three?

Answer: Depending on the physician and the hospital, state Child Protective Services can be contacted if substances such as marijuana are detected in the new born baby’s system. CPS can open an investigation immediately and is permitted to visit the home of the mother to assess the situation. If CPS detects that the use of marijuana is making the household unsafe for your other children, or is for any other reason at fear for your other three children’s safety and well being, they may pursue further action.
