Expunging or sealing records
questions & answers
Question: I was charged with a felony, the state dropped its charges. How do I get this off my record?
Answer: If the charges were dropped or dismissed it would not show up on a criminal records check. However, the arrest record would still be searchable. Therefore, if the question came up on a job application reference an arrest, the truthful answer would be yes. But if asked for convictions, the truthful answer is no. Also, Arizona does not expunge records, Arizona "sets aside" any conviction records. This information would still be searchable but would show the conviction was "set aside."
