Question: I was given a prescription by my doctor for pain from an automobile accident. I took my meds at work and was fired on the spot, even though I have a prescription,. and was told I was fired because I was taking medicine. Do I have grounds for legal action?

Answer: The laws pertaining to discrimination in employment can be found in Title 41 of the Arizona Revised Statutes beginning with A.R.S. § 41-1463. If you feel that you have been discriminated against at your employment, you can contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the Arizona Attorney General Civil Rights Division.
