Question: My friend's wife passed away back on February this year, and had a life insurance policy for $20,000.00. He is been calling and the answer is that they still investigating her claim. She died of Heart related illness. My friend does not want to hire a lawyer for that amount of life insurance. Is there any way that he can put pressure to the insurance company? A.R.S. 20-1215 discusses payment of claims for life insurance policies. It states:

There shall be a provision that when a policy becomes a claim by the death of the insured settlement shall be made upon receipt of due proof of death and, at the insurer's option, surrender of the policy, proof of the interest of the claimant, or both. If an insurer specifies a particular period prior to the expiration of which settlement shall be made, the period shall not exceed two months from the receipt of such proofs.
