Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: Can a landlord charge 10% of rent for the move-out walk through and 10% of rent for rekeying of the house for the next renter?
Answer: As a general rule, a landlord may demand whatever reasonable fees or other charges were specified in the rental agreement between the landlord and the tenant. However, if a particular fee or charge was never agreed to by the tenant, and therefore was not specified in the rental agreement between the landlord and the tenant, then the landlord ordinarily may not demand it.
