Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: My landlord called me and told me he will be selling the home I am living in. He has not put that in writing. He said he gives me 2 months to move out. Do I have to continue to pay the rent while I am living there?
Answer: A tenant in such a situation would be wise to ask the landlord to put the notice of termination of the rental agreement in a signed and dated writing. Unless the landlord says otherwise, again in writing, so long as a tenant resides in a dwelling under the terms of a rental agreement, the tenant is legally obligated to pay rent (A.R.S. 33-1368(B)).
