Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: My wife and I rented a home in Sun City Arizona, a few months in, what they thought was a windshear tore off the Arizona room ceiling and threw it on top of the house. We call the owner immediately and let him know and he said he would take care of it, we also let him know we had our furniture in the Arizona room And would be covering it so that there would be no damage. Unfortunately, it was very hard and we did have rain, our high top bar set and tile top table and patio couch and chairs were ruined because of the heat. The landlord took almost 3 months to finally get someone to replace the ceiling.
Answer: If a tenant in this or any similar situation believes that their landlord is responsible for property damage suffered by the tenant, then the tenant always has the option of taking the landlord to court to recover monetary compensation for their losses.
