Question: I own a home in a mobile home park where there is quite a bit of crime. My home has been broken into as have some of my neighbors. I want to install security bars on the windows to deter another break-in. Can the park prevent me from installing them?

Answer: A mobile home park landlord may insist that a home on the property be in compliance with applicable building codes – and most cities and counties have specific “egress” requirements about windows in general and security bars in particular that are designed to ensure that residents have easy access to more than one exit.
