Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: My landlord sent me a check, for what I believed was compensation for my a/c being out for 3+ weeks with temperatures in the home exceeding 100 degrees. I contacted them to ask how the amount was calculated. They then responded that it was noted in my account that a check was sent to us, and would get more information. A few days later they stated that the check was sent in error, and to return the check. What is my legal obligation?
Answer: The landlord may already have canceled the check. It might be wise for you to speak with an attorney before you do anything else. There are links to free and low-cost legal services on this website (at http://www.azlawhelp.org/accessToJustice).
