If you are only charged with assault (meaning there are no other charges and there are no other aggravating circumstances); and the assault you were charged with falls under the definition set forth in ARS § 13-1203(A)(1) : ("[i]ntentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing any physical injury to another person); then, the charge will likely be classified as a class 1 misdemeanor. Maximum jail time for a class one misdemeanor is six months. [See, ARS § 13-707(A)(1) ]. The maximum fine for a class 1 misdemeanor is $2500.00. [See, ARS § 13-802(A) ].
