Question: My companion passed recently and left me a life estate, but his children are trying to throw me out. They go in and out of the house while I'm living there and go through my things. They keep threatening to remove me ,so they can sell the house. Do I have any rights with this life estate ?
Answer: In order to have rights to the property you would need to either have been given the property in a will or have had arrangements made in trust. If your companion did not provide for you in this way you may still have rights as a tenant. You may want to speak to an attorney about your situation.
