Question: The provider that diagnosed my son with autism is withholding records due to non payment. The law says she cannot do this. What is my next step?
Answer: A doctor is able to charge you a reasonable fee to make copies of your medical records. In order to begin the process, you need to make a formal written request to receive a copy of your medical records. The general accepted time frame to receive those records is three weeks. If you are having further problems with retrieving your medical records you should contact the Arizona Medical Board. The website is: http://www.azmd.gov/Home.aspx The contact number and address is: Arizona Medical Board 9545 E. Doubletree Ranch Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85258 480-551-2700 877-255-2212
