Question: If my aunt wants to adopt me does my mother have to agree with it?
Answer: Under AZ Rev. Stat 8-106 (A)(1), a child's birth mother, if living, must consent to an adoption, unless her parental rights have been terminated by court order ARS 8-106 (B)(2). A summary of Arizona adoption laws can be found on the website AdoptionChildWelfareLaw.org.
