Question: How do I get a court date to see my mom? My sister won't let me see mom unless it's court ordered. She doesn't have any rights over mom but she has a restraining order against me based on a lie. I haven't done anything wrong or to her. She's the one using and abusing mom, not me.

Answer: After the “Petition for Order of Protection” is filed but before the Court issues the Order, the defendant should challenge it with legal assistance. After the Court issues the Order, the defendant’s options are limited. In Arizona, an Order of Protection takes effect upon proper service on the defendant (person against whom it is filed) and expires one year later.
