Child Support

questions & answers

Question: If my ex gets married and has another child in that marriage, can he request to lower his child support payments because he has another child to take care of?

Answer: Based on the Arizona Superior Court Child Support Guidelines, he can.  Go to the website www.azcourts.gov and select Superior Court.  Then access the self-help center and get a copy of the Arizona Child Support Guidelines.  On page 6, under part D, you will see the following language:     "An amount may be deducted from the gross income of a parent of natural or adopted children of other relationships not covered by a court order."
