Question: can a bullhead city AZ cop pull me over in Nevada? He followed me from BHC into Laughlin, but, did not put his lights on until we were in Laughlin. Is that legal?
Answer: That would depend on where the offense occurred. Was it in Nevada or Arizona. If the offense occurred in AZ and the officer waited to stop you in Nevada, it may not be an issue provided the officer has the legal authority in Nevada to make the stop. If the offense occurred in Nevada, then there is probably an issue as to authority of the officer to enforce laws in Nevada, and authority to stop in Nevada. The ticket should show the location of the offense (i.e. M.P. 144).
