questions & answers
Question: A few days ago I moved into my apartment as sole occupant and signed a lease. Last night my ex-boyfriend attacked me in apt and damage occurred. I just received phone call msg from apt mgr and sounds like I will be asked to leave. Can she do this
Answer:
The following is provided for general information only. To find out how the law applies to a specific situation, contact an attorney directly.
The Arizona Residential Landlord Tenant Act (ARS 33-1301 to 33-1381) governs most landlord-tenant relationships. ARS 33-1368 outlines provisions in which a Landlord may terminate a lease. However, other provisions agreed upon in the lease agreement may stipulate additional terms that a party (landlord or tenant) could be in breach of. ARS 33-1342, titled "Tenant's Obligations", lays out requirements on how the Landlord may impose additional rules or regulations on the rental property. For specific advice to your circumstances, you may wish to contact a lawyer specializing in Landlord and Tenant Law. For instances of domestic violence, a tenant may terminate a lease under certain provisions listed in ARS 33-1318.
