Eviction
questions & answers
Question: At what age can a son or daughter be evicted?
Answer: As a general rule, parents are responsible for their children at least until their children reach the age of 18. It is against the law in Arizona for the parent of a minor child (i.e. any child under the age of 18) to “knowingly fail to furnish reasonable support” for that minor child (A.R.S. 25-511). It is also against the law in Arizona for anyone (including a parent) to “cause, encourage, or contribute to the dependency or delinquency” of a minor child (A.R.S. 13-3613) or to endanger the “life, health, or morals” of a minor child (A.R.S. 13-3619). If a parent were to kick a minor child out of the house without first very carefully ensuring that the child would be well cared-for and in no way endangered, then that parent could be subject to imprisonment as well as thousands and thousands of dollars in fines.
